You’ve done the work. Now it’s time to get paid. But here’s where many freelancers and small businesses go wrong: they send unclear or incomplete invoices.

A proper invoice isn’t just paperwork—it’s part of your customer experience. It builds trust and speeds up payment.

Here’s what every invoice should include:

Your Business Info - Your name, business name, phone number, and email.

Client Details - Name and contact info of the person or company you're billing.

Invoice Number & Date - A unique ID (like 001, 002…) and the date the invoice is issued.

Description of Services or Products
Be clear and detailed. For example: “Logo Design – final version delivered 10 April 2025.”

Total Amount Due - Include currency (e.g., MVR or USD) and break down any taxes or fees.

Payment Instructions - Mention your bank account, payment method, and deadline.

Terms & Conditions - If you charge late fees or require advance payments, state it clearly.

You can use free tools like Canva, Wave, or even Google Docs to create polished invoices. Keep a consistent template—it helps build your brand.

Getting paid shouldn’t be a mystery. A clear invoice makes it easy for everyone.
